Ieoh Ming Pei

About

Ieoh Ming Pei (1917–2019) was arguably the most important architect of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, having designed iconic buildings and civic spaces across the world during a remarkable 70-year career.

Works

Beginning in 1948, all work in I.M. Pei’s office came through, and was conceptualized, by him. Heavy workloads increasingly led Pei to entrust certain projects to his talented partners and senior associates, who, in the mid-1970s, started to bring their own commissions into the firm. Listed here are only projects for which Pei was principally responsible for design. (Selected planning projects are included.)
