As the middle son of the world-renowned architect I.M. Pei, he was taught the vision, commitment, and professional standards essential to the creation of significant and lasting architecture. Prior to Pei Partnership Architects, which he co-founded, Mr. Pei spent the first 20 years of his professional career contributing to many of I.M. Pei & Partners’ most celebrated projects, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. (1978), the Grand Louvre in Paris (Associate Partner for Design), the West Wing extension of the NGA and the renovation of Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts.

Mr. Pei is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the China Institute in the USA. In 2007, Mr. Pei was recognized for his design excellence on the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and was awarded the UCLA Medal Award.

B.A. from Shanghai Normal University in 1991, Executive MBA from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2011, serves as the President of I.M. Pei Foundation.

Born in Shanghai, Ms. Jiang started her own business and moved to Hong Kong shortly after graduating. Engaged in aviation product-related industries for 23 years, she founded the electric glider greenwing and the drone industry brands Yuneec and Atlab. Since 2012, she has been an investor in drone technology and received a 60 million USD investment from Intel in 2015.

In 2016, she invested in the laboratory technical team of ETH Zurich and established Atlab to develop an open-source platform for drones. The company’s strategic transformation into the field of drone solution services in 2018 lead to the group headquarters move from Hong Kong to Switzerland, and the family moved to Zurich. As the local representative of the founders, Ms. Jiang started to build the Foundation’s Swiss office and the global development strategy of the I.M. Pei Foundation.

Mr. James C. Jao

Mr. James C. Jao, AIA, NCARB, SAFe, an internationally acclaimed architect and urban planner, is the Founding Partner and Chairman of Long On Group and Jao Design International Ltd. (JDI), with offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen.

James is a certified Senior Planning Expert of the PRC, and a consultant for 38 Chinese provinces, cities, and counties. In 2009, he was designated one of the ten most influential individuals in the PRC’s sixty-year history. Mr. Jao graduated from Pratt Institute with a full scholarship in 1980. In 1994, Pratt Institute bestowed on him “Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award in Architecture”. 

He served as the first Asian American Planning Commissioner of NYC from 1990 to 1994. Manhattan borough president proclaimed December 7, 1993 as “James Jao Day.” He is a registered architect in the states of NY, NJ, CT, MA, PA, GA, and CA.
